Is the bulb mentioned by Mike (see below) street legal for side lights?

That's the wrong size bulb for side lights, you need a T10.

Thank you; I thought so.
I have a T10 single-LED side light at the moment; but it's rather dull.
I was wondering if anyone has managed to brighten up the side lights significantly by installing bright LEDs??

Hi, after reading posts about the LED reverse light bulbs, I ordered some off ebay. They came within 10 days from china. They fitted straight in, and the difference is great! especially when looking through the rear tinted screen at the mirror.

Just bring this thread into 2018!
Does anyone have a link for a Led which will replace the reverse 21w 382 bulb and would they still be legal?
Thanks in advance

On my other car, I fitted a small LED spot light wired to the reverse light. It is a bit like having a headlight on the back which makes nightime reversing easy. The reflectors of the standard reverse light will never give the output you require. This has gone through many MOTs and is fine as long as it can only turn on via selecting reverse. I'll most likely do similar to the Bongo.

Thanks, I guess it would go nicely just underneath the bumper.

Easy to fit - just earth it and tap a cable into your reversing lights - should find the harness behind the right side cluster (I think).

Have now purchased one of the LED spots although not the one in the link. The cable from the light itself is too short for me to reach the existing wiring. I am wondering if I can extend the wire by soldering but don't know what the ampage is on the spot wires?
So two questions please someone, what wire can I use to extend and do you know what the ratings for the existing reverse light is?

Probably easiest to pop into a car shop with the lamp and buy some wire the same size or slightly larger.

If you can connect the new wire inside the spot you will save having a joint exposed to the elements, if not heat shrink may help.

Hi Bob and thanks.

I'll definitely heat shrink any joins.
The wires that run from the spot are thin, do you think it's ok to join in them to say a 12v 10 amp wire and then again to the existing reverse light wires which at a guess are 15 amp?
