Post by Riverman » Sun Jan 14, 2018 9:34 am

Hi All,
Happy new Year to all Bongonauts!
Does anyone have a bike carrier for a bongo they are looking to sell (Fixed type), or any advice on best place to buy a newby?
Cheers
Pete

Welcome aboard. 8)

We use a Pendle rack which mounts behind the tow ball.

You can't open the tailgate with it in place but that's not been a problem to us.

Thanks Bob,
The tow bar mounted carriers look great, our Bongo is LPG (which is great) but unfortunately the tank sits where a tow bar would need to locate #-o ,

Someone may have thoughts on this, the tank often sits where the spare wheel goes but we do have a spare and a tow bar.

Guess it depends on your actual fit.

There are bike racks which hang on the tailgate, just I'm not familiar with them.

Just purchased the Thule 973 from Amazon for £150 delivered. Think they are customer returns, so saving £130 on rrp or about £80 less than a new online. Purchased the fitting kit for £30 and a lock for £17, so saved quite a bit. Ebay has some now and then.

Thanks Bob/Flanners
Our spare (a thin) is kept under the back seat.
The Thule looks just what we're after, thanks for the Amazon tip that's a great saving.
Looking forward to Bongo trips with the bikes, will give us more flexibility, (And hopefully shed a few pounds!)
Cheers guys

I got a new bike rack for the van a towbar mounted Maypole 3 cycle rack, looks good and it was easy enough to fit, it works perfectly for Bongos as well =D>
