Bournemouth campsites

Post by paramatt » Tue Sep 20, 2011 1:37 pm

Hi
Can anyone recommend a campsite close to Bournemouth beach for the 1st weekend in October?
We are a group of Lifeguards going up to watch the National and International Inshore Rescue Boat (IRB) championships. It proves to be a good weekend!
Thanks

Matt

I'm not sure you are going to find one close to the beach. The only ones I can think of are around Matchams, Ringwood, Verwood and Wimborne. The sites in Matchams Lane are probably the closest, but it's around 30 years since I used one of them.

Meadow View Caravan site near Wimborne is a nice site:

13 - 15 miles from Bournemouth.

Would not touch any of the sites in Matchams.

Meadow view is brilliant, a bit closer though would be Beacon Hill near Poole or of course Merley Court where we had Southern Softies for the last two years, both of those only about 15 minutes from Bournemouth.

Thanks for advice. I managed to find a couple sites near Christchurch, only about 6-8 miles from Bournemouth.
I haven't booked anything yet but both have availability. Heading up early Saturday morning, only camping the one night now.
Will let you know how we get on!
