Slimbridge Park

Post by philo8900 » Fri Sep 14, 2012 8:17 am

Made the most of the fine weather last week, and stayed at a lovely site in Slimbridge, called Tudor Caravan and Camping site. Spotless facilities and site, with great walking along the Glos-Sharpness canal. Small shop and Cafe nearby. Lovely quiet park. =D>

Good meal there, too. :D

A decent walk will bring you to the Berkley Arms, Purton:

Note limited hours, then check out the Purton Hulks:

Edit: You'll need to go upstream a bit, but this wold be a good place to stay and then see the Severn Bore, couple in Oct/Nov:

We walked to Sharpness along canal, so passed Purton Graveyard. And where the Severn Railway bridge was, before 2 ships went into it in 1960?? (i think) , but will remember the place to eat for next time, as Sharpness has nothing there! Not even a coffee shop! But the area and the park itself was fab, no complaints at all. Even quite reasonable cost.

Thanks for extra info tho.

I think the Docker's Club, on Sharpness Dock, still serves, the hotel is now a nursing home.

Little else actualy in Sharpness, however:
