Camping at The Anchor Inn, High Offley

Hi Bongophiles!

Just to let you know about this out-of-the-way site. The Anchor Inn is a CAMRA Heritage Pub. sitting alongside the Shropshire and Union Canal. Wadworth 6X bitter, topped up with a jug by Olive the landlady. Or cider out of box! Brilliant. Regular live music hosted by Canal Mal and regularly accompanied in a singaround with any musically minded campers who happen to be staying there, and other local musicians who call in now and again.

Site is basic. No showers, just a sink in the toilet block which, last time we were there, was housing some House Martins. Electrical hook-ups and hard standing available. You can either pitch at the front (Caravan & Camping Club members only), or round the back where you don't need to be a member. Nice, quiet site in the heart of the countryside.

In short, if you like camping, Bongoing, live music (especially folk but because of the travelling contingent, music is fairly eclectic), beer and cider, it's great!

Regards

Bridge 42 on the Shroppie.

You may well find me and Mrs B there. :D

For an afternoon walk (when Olive is closed) stroll north, along the towpath, then turn right at Cadbury's Wharf (with the covered dock). Turn right and walk 10 mins up the lane to here:

Aahhh yes...

Our friend has recommended that pub as well worthy of a visit. Sounds like another great venue to take Beth the guitar for an unplugged session...
