Last year we stayed in Marine Parade, Dover.

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Marin ... e49fb1f436

There were loads of people parked up there and it seemed perfectly legal and accepted. Of course these things change so I'd check it out for the current state of play but it was great last year. Perfect for late arrival, early start and even some nice looking beach bar type thing if you're early enough.

Failing that, we have parked in services on the approach before (when exhausted) but they tend to have signs up warning of charges for overstaying your 2 hour welcome so probably best to avoid unless falling asleep at the wheel.

Good luck

We have used this place in the past and will be there again in September.
Nice and clean, five minutes to the tunnel and twenty to Dover, good food.

We always use Hawthorn Farm at Martin Mill: http://www.keatfarm.co.uk/parks/hawthorn-farm/

It's a nice easy, short, run to the ferry port. Also handy for the tunnel.

If you arrive out of hours, they have an honesty box system where you can pitch up in a small field and pop your fee in a box at reception.

Hi thanks for your replies - looks like I left it too late - tried Hawthorns and they and lots of other sites were full - the only places were the CC&C affiliated sites - which were for memebers only. worked out cheaper to book a hotel family room than register and pay those sort of prices for a one night pitch!

Just double checked the details: it's called Stop 24, J11 M20. Stopped in there for cup of tea on way back from Dover and its all very shiny and new. From their website:

http://www.stop24.co.uk/index.php?optio ... icle&id=10

We also provide parking for caravans and motor homes in designated areas. The first 2 hours are free and caravan and motor homes may stay onsite overnight. The cost is £20.00 and is payable at the self service pay point by the Bureau de Change which is available 24 hours a day. Please park your caravan or motor home in the designated caravan areas or in the coach park area, at the far end of the truck park. The coach park must be vacated by 09.30 the following morning.
The overnight parking includes free use of our shower facilities in the main terminal building.

shame i didn't see this sooner we could of put you up for the night we are 16 miles from dover and are use to having guest's as we take in students, stop 24 is a good place for one night it has only taken off the last year before that it was a bit of a white elephant with no one using it.
But if it dose not work out or if anyone else needs a ferry or euro star stop over you are more than welcome to stay we have two double rooms and one single, kids are welcome as we have children of our own
