Can anyone recommend a camp site guide for Bongoing long weekends Online would be good but I quite fancy an old style glove box hard copy. We are planning to radiate from our base near Bournemouth to infinity and beyond. We have an unconverted Friendee and hope to get by with just awning and camping gear initially, I understand some sites are a bit sniffy about this. Cheers medears

Just realised I've posted this is in techie stuff please feel free to move it to a better home if the power is with you.

Id also recommend camping and caravan club.

Book with almost every campsite in the country in it,with price guide and tel numbers
Also a monthly magazine
Well worth the money, and no probs camping in an unconverted Bongo + awning

Agree with Brian, just book as a camper van and awning.

Never had a problem in 8 years. 8)

I've found with the Caravan Club CL sites that some of them don't like "tents". In fact, the rule book (yes they have one), says that tents are not allowed.

Others are fine and just happy to take your money!

Had an argument with one snooty woman once about this!

I can sort of see that the Caravan Club is for caravans, still might as well let you in as a camper and awning, but the Camping & Caravan Club should be more in favour of tents and may be a better bet when its time to pay.

You'd think a small site would just be happy to throw your dosh in the till.

The C&CC welcome unconverted bongos. Why the CC don't is a puzzle to me as they didn't have a problem with my old trailer tent with no kitchen.

Worried about white vans I suspect. CC's ruling on trailer tents was odd, because they didn't accept tents. Yet once up, it is hard to tell a trailer tent apart from a large frame tent.

My current bongo is unconverted and I've had no problem with CC except they don't like "tents" at some of the CLs. It's in the rule book. I had no problems with the club sites when I toured Scotland. I used a Quechua base tent pop-up at the side of the bongo. The person I was referring to in my previous post just didn't understand the concept of a driveaway awning at all! "Oh no (in a very posh voice) - you want the C&CC site across the road!"

The next CL I contacted I specifically asked if I could sleep in my tent to try it out. The response I got was "I don't know where you're sleeping at night!" In other words - fine!

And yet a trailer tent is a driveaway awning really isn't it!
