Longthorn Campsite

Post by Bongolia » Mon Feb 27, 2017 12:12 pm

Took the wife to see the Monkeys at Monkey World stayed at Longthorns campsite, BH20 6HH, it has a walk through to Monkey World so the van can stay pitched up.
Great site, may be a bit noisy for some as its close to the main road but not an issue after 6ish and we did pitch near the entrance/road too.
Most of the site facilities where closed up for winter season but looks like it could be a great venue, has its own small bar fire pit, barbecue ample showers/ loos and good spacing of pitches very clean.
There is a field full of long neck small headed sheep too!
Monkey World was very reasonably priced entrance fee (OAP) 8.50ukp the meal prices where very reasonable and despite the weather the monkeys put on a good show.
Oh, and I discovered its just down the road from Bovington Tank museum.
BH20 6JG
That isn't so reasonable 15.00ukp and taking your own sandwiches would save you a few bob, no OAP discount and surprisingly only a quid off for ex service members but you do get a free returns for a year from entry date. Spent two days looking around, so not bad entrance fee wise if you are doing it over a couple of days i suppose, and a quick peak in the repair shop too, normally only allowed on certain days though, they have some awesome spanners and stuff in there!
Weather was bl**dy awful with the tail end of Doris blowing through and rain but quite enjoyable all the same.
