charity fitting service

Post by haydn callow » Tue Mar 16, 2010 5:26 pm

As before I will attempt to fit any "alarms" bought from me....I will charge £15 for this service and it will all go to the RP Charity...Last year I was able to send them £200.......Let me know in advance what you require and I will book you in....first come first served. I will do 2/3 a day if required.

To those that don't know what RP is,

British Retinitis Pigmentosa Society (RP for short)
It caused by a eye gene defect and is heredity..
I was diagnosed when I was 52 and two of my daughters have the defective gene.
It first shows as Night blindness then (in my case) gradual loss of periferal vision untill it ends up with very severe tunnel vision. This is the stage I'm now at. I lost my drivers licience about 10 years ago (so I have never driven a Bongo).
The next stage of the disease, is a gradual loss of the central vision.
The money raised will go to research into this quite rare eye problem and perhaps by the time my daughters start showing the signs (if indeed they do) a cure can be found.
The upside is....my close vision is excellent. (up to 2 ft)

Don't get me wrong hear...I'm very lucky compared to many peeps....just thought you might like to know where your money is going and why..
Keep up the good work Haydn =D>

Hi All,
Met a lot of new peeps and we enjoyed all aspects of the weekend.
Just emptied the "charity" box and there was £66 in there.....considering I only really fitted a couple of alarms and "overseed" a couple more that is a great result.....Thanks to everyone who walked past and "slipped" a few bob in.
