Fridge for Factory Fitted Kitchen

Post by Ian » Mon Aug 22, 2011 3:38 pm

I doubt whether anyone will be remotely interested in this, mainly because of the price, but my source in Japan has managed to track down some of the fridges (or are they cool boxes?) that form part of the Mazda fitted kitchen cubes. We thought that these were deleted long ago, and perhaps they have been. But he's found some in a warehouse if anyone is interested.

That's the good bit. The bad news is that they will cost 75,000 yen each, plus import duty, postage and VAT. #-o

Any takers?

Hmm - final cost around £800  Are you sure he hasn't made a mistake with the price?

I've double checked, and in fact it may be even more expensive! Import duty on these items is 15%, postage (for 4 fridges) is £160, plus 20% VAT. So about £875 I reckon..........

Hello chaps,
Latecomer to the post here...

I have the factory kitchen along with the fridge/coolbox. It works absolutely fine but I'm just wondering what type of fridge it is, if anyone knows? Is it anything like a compressor fridge? I've heard that compressor fridges are very efficient so tempted to upgrade.

Thanks for any helpful info! :D

Which of these does it sound like?

intermittent vibration noise = compressor fridge
Constant fan noise = thermo-electric
Totally silent= absorption fridge

Thanks Velocette! :)
Almost definitely a thermo-electric fridge then, quite sure it's a constant fan noise. Now apprehensively researching thermo-electric fridges

They are the most power hungry unfortunately but I don't think they would be as expensive as Ian is talking about

Hi
Adding to Velocette's list, there is a 4th type....if it makes this noise:

BANG

it's an incorrectly fitted gas 'fridge!
Cheers

The original fridge fitted in the Mazda kitchen unit is a compressor fridge. I can't remember the make off-hand (Bongo is off having new front shocks), but it's a fairly high quality unit & is pretty effective. A bit more power hungry than the more modern versions though.
