newforest

To celebrate 10 years since the formation of the Bongo Fury owners club, Sunday 24th February 2013 has been designated as National Bongo Day. What we have in mind is a series of events in various locations across the UK & Ireland where Bongonauts can get to meet each other and perhaps have a Sunday lunch.

Sounds really good. Quite a few good pubs in this area and dog friendly. The Royal Oak on the way to Beaulieu is a favourite.

Calshot activities centre nearby has seven hookups at its camping area. It is out on Calshot spit though and is very exposed, but ideal for anyone with a motor home. I think I will freeze at the main venue though, just remember to bring my four seasons sleeping bag and a ski jacket.

Would there be room for day visitors on the big day? If so, we would definitely come.

The whole idea of National Bongo Day is that it is a series of DAY meets across the country. If people want to risk camping out in February, that's entirely up to them......

I'm still interested in staying overnight Saturday at the scout venue with New Forest Terrier. Might borrow my son's ski jacket if he's not off snowboarding at the time :D As for Calshot Activity Centre, camping on a spit doesn't sound too healthy to me - although Muz might approve!

Ah, having looked at the map I understand. But camping on a Spit did conjure images of skewers & apples

Is this venue a goer for the day, as nothing else has been added and a few people have indicated they would attend.Time is marching on.

I plan to be there with the family (2 kids: 5&1) but I don't think we'll be staying over unless its an unseasonably warm Feb evening

I'm still planning to stay overnight. Don't think the campsites will be too busy in February. Gotta get through Christmas (bah humbug) first.
