Bongo Fury

Ok.

Roof goes up fine. Roof comes down fine. But the roof warning light on the dash stays on.

Normally, when you close the roof, the alarm beep stops when it is down even though your finger is still on the close button. If I press the close button with the roof down, it still beeps at me.... so it thinks the roof is still up.

So, I assume the sensor / switch which tells the system that the roof is closed is sticking??

There is a slightly graunchy noise at the final "lock out" point too, which didn't sound that healthy either.

Any ideas????

If a slightly graunchy noise was heard then check out that nothing inside the tent is being squashed or that there hasn't been a build up of rubbish in the slider housings at the front;

Otherwise yes the switches at the front (one each side) could be suspect.

Where are the switches located? I assume they are not the same as the one for the roof light which is a black rubber one?

Up in the rails that the slider runs in at the front top, a pain to get at, as the slider passes the switch it presses in the plunger;

You can just make out the 'up' switch here on the track. The 'down' version is further forward:

Great. I think I have fixed it.

Took both of the plastic "buttons" out (manged to lose a spring and a screw, then managed to find the spring on the drive and found a replacement screw in my box of 100000 screws) so I've just fiddled, refitted and they now seem to work. Not 100% sure what was wrong though which concerns me. Amazing that there are switches on BOTH sides, so twice as much to go wrong.

The Bongo roof is very complex. I can't help thinking that a conventional pop-top would be lighter and more reliable. I know the AFT is a bit of a party piece though !
