Glow plug relay

Hi all,
"Bertha" wouldn't start this morning and a few minutes with a meter has turned up a faulty glow plug relay. However when I went to look for a replacement relay, the only options I could find were over £80! The parts database doesn't list an alternative part. Has anyone found an alternative with the same terminals? Or should I just put in a cheap generic relay?
Cheers,
Jon.

Piccie below. It seems to be very similar to
http://www.e-jbc.biz/relay-mr8-eng.html It is just a simple SPST
relay.

Hi
If anything come of this, let us know...I reckon the Bongo needs new Pluggies, and IF the relay is available cheaply, I'll replace that at the same time and be done with it!
Cheers
Helen

My brother in law works in the motor trade and searched for a cheaper alternative but failed.
I opened up the relay and found that the copper wire had come away from the soldered joint, I resoldered it and it works fine.

Cheers! I'd already stuck in a standard 70A
relay, but mine was only £5.54 from VWP... Funnily enough, I was also planning to add an LED in the dash to show voltage at the
glow plug rail to help diagnose starting problems in the future.

The glowplug factsheet in the members area may be of interest, there's a mod in there to fit a glowplug switch with an indicator led so you can see when they are on & switch them off when not necessary -
