Bongo Fury

bought one of these after seeing a video on utube

instructions are to put it in hose runs from firwall heater connection to top of engine

but the bongo is not like a regular car or van

so im unsure

but leaning towards fitting it near the end of the bleed hose to give me a more conventional bleed point

what do you lot think

If your rad is struggling 'cos of built up crud.....cut your losses and fit a new Rad.....not worth risking your cylinder head over.

No amount of flushing will remove crud settled in the bottom of a rad.

Not really sure what benefits this kit gives? It's easy enough to backflush the bongo system just using a hose at various points around the system. This just looks like it's introducing more connections into the system & therefore more potential leakpoints. is this product rated to cope with a pressurised system? How often do you need to flush it? As Haydn says if the rad or matrixes are clogged, best bet is to replace them.
While it's a good idea to do a flush, especially if unsure of what coolant is in there, or changing the coolant type, even a chemical flush will only do so much to shift any crud.

Looks an okay kit to me for single handed flushing with a hose plumbed in..... neat idea...but the instructions show an inline engine which has bulkhead feeds to the heater matrix....
Going to get one for my toolbox...make them Renault 4/5's especially easier to flush as well as some others ......as for Bongo use.... I await my Kit....but it could be good to have the hose pushing water through while coolant pipes get wriggled...

If in doubt fit a new RAD get one on ebay for about £100, I bought one & fitted it plenty of links to advise how to do it plus a fact sheet. I was apprehensive but with all the encouragement from forum members decided to have a go, however Ian G kindly came down from Mansfield to help in an advisory capacity but still got his hands dirty.

The bongo bleeding ritual is something else, read all the links & watch the you tube video, very entertaining.

I made the following adaptor using bits lying around the shed. It allows hose pipe to be connected into bottom of rad to back flush it. Not pretty, but works a treat.

For me.....purely in an advisory capacity of course....if system is unknown and on an old rad....then fit a new rad....as that seems to be the main sediment trap in the system and ultimately being the symptom of the outcome of top/bottom radiator plastic tank leaks......
As for the flush kit....good idea as I have said before ....it may be useful for Bongo, I await delivery as getting one for some Classic motors....before I comment....
