Is that the hose that connects to the top steel heater pipe under the passenger seat? About 8 inches long?
-
If it is this must be catching. Just when I thought I was leak free I've sprung another!
I've just had a good look around my hoses after today's driving. Lo and behold, a pinprick leak in the same hose......
-
Another hose to find. I can't seem to find one listed anywhere on the net.
-
I too have wrapped it in compression tape.....luckily I've been clearing out my old (crashed) car as it's getting towed away tomorrow, and I found some in the boot.
-
Anyway, while we are on the subject, I think a big hose overhaul is on the cards. I have all the main 5 bar one, but what about the smaller ones...rear heater etc. Where can I find those?

think the best bet is like me and go direct to mazda to get those that arnt listed, if you go in with the chassis number and if you can get the part number off lushproject (exactly same as the microfish) then it seems no problems with them.

I have now bound this hose twice with hose tape and still it manages to get through I dont think we appreciate just how much pressure the hoses are under on a Bongo!!

Only proper solution is of course a new hose!!

What you've got to bear in mind also is that if you are running it with a leak (other than the danger of complete hose failure), is it holding sufficient pressure in the cooling system? If it's open to atmosphere it may well be running hotter & you could be in danger of creating airlocks if it sucks air back in as it cools?
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Yep, scary.
It's getting changed as soon as I find one.
I can't seem to find that one on lushprojects....will have a better look later.

Is there a Mazda parts supplier in York? I know there's one in Harrogate.

Did you look on the link I posted earlier in the thread? It's on the rear heater diagram rather than the cooling diagram & one of the other rear heater hoses is on the rear ac diagram i think, if you're looking at replacing them all, 17 hoses for you to find

Just a quick question to Techies!!
As you know there are many "shaped" hoses on a Bongo cooling system and I realise that ideally you should always replace any if possible with original Mazda/Ford parts.Preferably NEW ones!

My question is this:-
Is it wise to replace any of the hoses with non Mazda parts ie would it cause harm to replace a shaped hose with a piece of straight hose.it may sound a daft question but in the future we may have to start to make do and mend repairs just to keep these great vehicles on the road!

Any comments welcomed!

The temporary repair I have done to mine is standing up well and I hope to have the NEW Mazda hose very shortly!
Does anyone know why there are two hoses on Lushprojects with the ID No 61-214 and which model is the 61-214 (with the sleeve) for? The sleeved one seems easier to get than the short one I have been after any idea why?

Wish I could read Japanese!! :D

there's 3 different types, if you look at the key on the left for hose no 4, click on the + & it opens up to reveal the answer, 3 different types for 3 different engines, 2.5TD, 2.0 petrol & 2.5 petrol.

The problem with using straight hose is that it'll be under additional stress at the bends, but thew grooved or flexible stuff designed to be used for kit cars should be ok apparantly.

Thanks to all for the heads up on this problem and solution. I've just reserved a roll of the Halfords tape at my local branch and keep it in a safe place - possibly next to the 2 rolls of Rescue Tape I bought at the NEC Show in February (Do I have 'Belt & Braces Syndrome'? )

This thread is spooky on two levels as 1) it's the same hose that killed my bongo's head and I had an LCA and Mason. And 2) we had a leak on the waste pipe for the bathroom and I did a quick fix with some amalgamating tape I bought from Maplins and I put the rest of the roll in the bongo - just in case......

Well done for spotting it Dabs and good idea for posting it :D
