temp gauge tempremental
Sometimes goes halfway, then just less than a quarter. But today it never moved! Any ideas? Oh, seems to have coincided with the fitting of the indeglow white dials, although i would have thought if i'd done something wrong,it wouldnt work at all.

Are the dials sitting absolutely flat on the face Kloonsy? If there is a bend or curve below the needle, it could be catching it a little?
Could the dial face be sitting a little cock-eyed? Catching the fuel gauge needle at the spigot?

Hi Kloonsy,
If the sensor or the wiring to it is faulty, and giving intermittent connections you will get the symptoms you describe.
I would check the wiring around the sensor, that’s the sensor at the top of the engine above where the top hose exits the head.

My gauge was doing weird things too and when I bled my system and refilled with coolant it seemed to stop working completely! I thought I had done something seriously wrong or there was something drastic wrong with the bongo
Helen gave me a pointer - she told me to check the voltage stabiliser wire at the back of the dials. I was going to just replace it but I took the dials out and loosened the screws where the wires fix on and tightened then up again. I pulled the male/female connector apart and reconnected. I also tweaked the sensor on the engine. HEY PRESTO - it's working again! It might just be a loose wire, so check the connections first before you go spending huge amounts of money on new parts!!
Hope this helps.!
