Flashing roof warning light

As the title says i have a flashing roof warning light on the dash.
When i started the bongo up today, the flashing warning light came on and also the beeps, lifted the roof up then closed it, the beeps stop but not the flashing warning light. thought it might have been a one off, but it seems to do all the time. i did raise the roof last weekend (Saturday) and sprayed some silicon grease onto the runners but i did use the bongo afterwards and also on Sunday without any bother, so apart from taking the bulb out to stop it flashing do you guys and gals have any ideas as to why it suddenly started to flash.

I have the same fault.

Well, almost- mine sometimes beeps/flashes when I start the engine. so i slighty open the roof, close again, and BOTH the beeps and the light stop.

seems more likely to occour when I haven't driven for a few days. Prob 1 trip in 3 or 4 starts like this.

Sorry, no solution, but a problem shared and all that!

Got to be a sensor or more likely micro-switch fault?

Heres my answer from last year and still working to this day

"I sorted mine out today with the help of a friend (fork lift truck engineer)
Open the roof slighty about 2 foot (its easier to reach the micro switchs)
put a bit of cardboard between the switch contacts. if this stops the bleeping do what i did next
unscrew the black part of the microswitch only slightly put a screw driver behind and lever (very gently not too much) towards the cream coloured plastic part that the metal strip touches and re tighten.
Then do the same to the cream part (2 screws on these) and lever towards the black part and re tighten.
Do this to both sides (I only had to do the front to cure my bleeping) and test.
Mine works how it should now (no bleeping when it's down correctly).
The idea is basically to get the 2 parts closer together."

I wonder if one of the micro switches has become contaminated due to the recent runner greasing? Maybe they just need a wipe?

I think the switch unit on mine is completely stuffed - no possibility of a quick fix

Disconnect the battery and reconnect after 5 minutes it might not cure the fault but it will give you something else to think about for a while - sorry no idea how to cure this - but if you find an answer please post as it might help us all

Mine has always flashed like this - I think it is the front microswitch on the passenger side that is the miscreant. I tried lube and I also tried bending the lever a little - this worked for a while but then went back to flashing. I have tried to remove the switch, but our Japanese friends have left the wires so short that it won't budge.

So I figure if I hear the locks engage after the roof is fully down the warning light can happily be a disco light

If anyone finds an easy way to change the stupid switch without taking half the roof to bits I may re-visit a reapir

The flashing light i can put up with, but not the beeps, they only stop when i lift the roof then lower it again.
not had chance to sort it out yet, i disconnected the battery, this does not work, but it was worth a try just in case.

I hope that this can be solved as it may take a contagious to find out what he problem is.

Not far off. Actually, I have a square of insulating tape on the instrument console cover and that all but obscures it - you can tell I'm Irish.

My experience/approach is exactly the same as Mike Jill and Emily's. I can see (hear?) if would be a different matter if the beeper kept going like DBO's
