wiring problem

Hello,

Just get my first Bongo knowing that the driver window wasn't working. But i find out that the wing mirror isn't working too, and when i want to fold the mirrors, only the passenger one is closing

the passenger side electric is all working, none of the driver side electric are working (window/mirror)

if my Bongo have central locking, this doesn't work either.

All the fuses are ok.
Did remove the door panel, and find lots of wires
look like someone as been there before.

Any ideas ? or anyone have a contact in the south west who could have a look ?

Does the passenger window work from the drivers double switch?

yes it does

Try pulling out the cover by the accelerator pedal in the drivers foot well where the beeping stuff is.
There should be a connector block to the drivers door loom where the bundle goes into the body from the door, it might be disconnected?

i see where you mean, will have a look. Someone did connect a new brown wire connect to a blue one with a fuse, but have no idea what it does.

Here is a pic of the bundle, the blue wire with a fuse is connected to a brown wire going to the door, but have no idea what is doing. Everything look connected, nothing cut.

The central looking is working, but only close, doesn't open.

there is quite often a problem with the loom as it pass through to the door, the constant opening and closing of an old door causes some of the wires to run to a point where they give up. best to remove the door panel and check for damaged cables.
the drivers door mirror could be a faulty motor, i had both of ours give up the ghost.

Did remove panel twice, couldn't see anything damaged or cut.
The wing miror doesn't work too.

My drivers side wing mirror never folded in from day one !
Folded it in myself........until today.
Just started working of its own accord

Dont be tempted to take apart the mirror control box......explodes into lots of
pieces and ball bearings once it gets a sniff of a screwdriver

My passenger side wing mirror gives up occasionally, fold it forwards (ie the wrong way) & it seems to click back into operation for a few weeks , seems like it gets out of sequence or something

The conductor can break inside the insulation so that any broken wire is hidden.

To find the culprit you can pass a small pin/needle through the insulation of each wire, one on each side of the hinge. Check each wire for continuity from the one pin to the other and if there is no circuit, cut that section out and solder in a replacement of at least the same thickness. Make sure none of the pins contact any metalwork.

When you remove the pins, unsure the hole closes up in the insulation. Probably best to put a wrap of insulation tape over the holed section to be safe.

Make sure that any join is far enough back from the hinge that it does not suffer much movement. Also, make sure it is well insulated and protected from chaffing with shrink-wrap and then a wrap of insulation tape around the outside of the loom bundle.

No, my fault.

The wire is most likley to have broken where it passes from the car body to the door inside a rubber flexy conduit inside the hinge-line of the door (open the door and you will see it). You need to expose the wires inside the car just before they enter the ruuber tube and in the door just after. This is where you put the pins into the wire either side of the hinge-line.

i just had a look at the wires inside the ruber piece between the door and body work, they are almost all broken (look very dry)

Look like it's going to be a late night, i won't know if what i will do will fix anything as my alternator died this morning

Here's what i did with mine. (just to help.!)
To be honest the clip that holds the loom between the door in the Vee shape i think causes more problems than they are meant to solve.
So after repairing the loom which turned out to be a broken earth wire under the shroud that goes into the bodywork, i took up the slack & set it up like this...

Though with the CL i would check to make sure you have a relay fitted...
