Post by Peg leg Pete » Fri Sep 03, 2010 4:08 pm

Greetings all, just had the Bongo in for new driver side inner and outer sill to be replaced. The garage I took it to has struggled to weld the outer one and has not done the inner one on the grounds that has he tried to weld the weld was just burning through the metal!!!. I would like to know if anybody can recomend a garage in my area that has done this work please, needs doing as it will not pass its next M.O.T. next January :( kind regards Pete

if it keeps burning through then its rotten Pete, you will have to take it to a body shop rather than a garage, they will fabricate a cill up to the shape and cut the old one back to bare metal so they can get a weld to stick.

Ive had mine done, basically had new outer cills all the way along as it was patchy rust here there and every where, Steve the body shop guy used cills off an old shape transit as it looked similar, but had to do alot of fabricating to do, then after he said he might have been better using a cill from a ford ka??, only going from what he thought in comparison Pete so dont know. these were for the outer cills, he fabricated some parts up for the inner cills as they just needed a couple of small areas sorting.

Any half descent body shop Pete will sort the cills out
