pipe over inlet manifold weld cracked

Post by Darkstar » Sun Feb 27, 2011 5:43 pm

You know how it it with old cars, you fix one problem only to find another, well would you believe it only started with a faulty thermostat
replaced that, done the bleed, temps all ok water level kept dropping, springs a leak on the pipe over starter, replace that, water levels ok now temp ok, bongo not changing up gear at the usual speeds, so following suggestions on BF changed fuel filter as i was mixing Veg oil during summer, no i forgot to clean banjo filter will do it next weekend.

anyway turned engine over to prime filter got engine running, pushed trottle pedal full down with hand as i was looking for filter leaks, and got a cab full of black smoke, it looks as if the pipe over the inlet manifold ( part No 20-310b) has a cracked weld at the gearbox end.

i'm hoping someone is going to tell me this is the pipe you can block off the egr valve with [-o< [-o<

or am i going to spend another weekend working on it??

thats good news, i thought the members fact sheet mentioned the smaller egr pipe 20-310 but maybe there are two ways of blocking it off
