Ferry booking to France, is a Bongo a car?
Hi there I have a bongo AFT with full side conversion and roll out Fiamma awning on the side. Does anyone know if when booking a ferry to France is this classed as a car or a motorhome? All answers particularly from you Euro veterans who have made this trip greatly appreciated.

Treated ours like a car and no one looked twice. I was worried because with the back box on too, it's a reasonably long outfit but again, no problems. Leave the higher fees to the coachbuilt brigade!

Just select car and then the height and length - don't try to get away with under-declaring either dimension because they do check sometimes.

Agree with above - "high car" is all but make sure you're within the sizes that allows for the ferry of your choice.

Sterling advice, that! Could we add this info to a sticky post, along the lines of "what you really need to know to travel to the continent"?

Just been doing this myself
Book with Norfolk line and they are happy with 5m length and 2.4m height regardless of what it is
Also, they are by far the cheapest £78 return!
Bargin, and easy to book

First time ever driving in Europe so wont be going too far, planning on doing a couple of nights in Belgium then on to germany then possibly finish off in northern France. Just have to decide which campsites and which route to take firstNick65 wrote:Where abouts are you off to then?
