That dreaded coolant smell!

Post by melee » Mon Mar 07, 2011 5:26 pm

Popped out earlier and could see plumes of steam on occasion coming from the front of the bonnet. Pulled over and could see a pin hole in the top of radiator gushing out coolant. Bummer!

Can i use radweld or is that a total no no? Will prob take it to the local garage tomorrow me thinks....hope its not expensive as the MOT recently cost me £850 (Rusty underneath big time!)

Really bad luck, hopefuly you've caught it in time, and good tip from Westonwarrior.
Take a torch, toilet roll, and tea bags.

There is a fact sheet that explains all. When my bongo's rad went, I ordered one of Ebay and as it was just outside Rotherham - Brinsworth I collected the same. It may have been a copy but it was identical to the original.

Took about 90 minutes and then a bit extra to bleed the system.

in the paid up members area. :D you click the bongo meisters logo top right hand of page and sign in, you will then get access to the fact sheets.

RadWeld (or equivalents) work, many swear by them.............but they are only supposed to be temporary solutions, you'll could cause yourself a whole more world of pain when it blocks things up in the future - or the next owner of your van.

Do it right.
