Anyone driven abroad for f1- bike racing?

Has anyone driven abroad to watch f1 or motogp/superbikes in europe? Thinking of taking the bongo abroad next year.

Been abroad for the Le Mans Series @ Spa & Nurburgring and also for Bike racing at Spa - does that count?

Yeah, just looking for basic info like did you go from dover what routes you took to race tracks, any good stopovers on the way?

Always via Luxembourg for the cheap diesel and usually via Belgian M/ways to avoid tolls.

Spa is easily done in a day and Nurburgring isn't much further away usually stopover, if at all, somewhere in Belgium (Flanders, rather than Wallonia) as they nearly all speak better English than me.

Do Knockhill and Trac Môn count as abroad?

We've done Le Mans, Spa, Zolder and Nürburgring, normally Dover to Boulogne-sur-Mer even though that's not the ideal route for Belgium or Germany. We've also used the tunnel which I would highly recommend, and the P&O Hull-Rotterdam service which is excellent.

Once you're off the ferry you can get to any of these circuits in one hit. Normally we would have a Monday lunchtime ferry booked for the return so we can drift back to Boulogne on Sunday evening once the rush has died down, grab some kip at Boulogne marina and then stock up on booze at LeClerc's before going to the ferry terminal. We'd then arrive at Dover early afternoon so able to get around the M25 before the mayhem starts

Dover to Boulogne-sur-Mer even though that's not the ideal route for Belgium or Germany.

It was not so bad as it looks at first sight if instead of using the A16 to go back up to Calais you used the N.42 towards Hazebrouk and then join the A.25 just West of Lille. The N.42 is dual carriageway for quite a bit of the way and delightfully empty most of the time.

Shame it's hard to travel via Boulogne any more.

Also remember that in Belgium they switch languages for no apparent reason so if you're heading for Liège, when you get around the Brussels area there are no signs for Liège any more, it switches to Luik, then back to Liège the other side. If you aren't aware of this you could end up in the centre of downtown Brussels on a Friday afternoon and you'll miss free practice

They also change the names of French towns as well
Lille is known as Rijsel in Flanders.

Brno in CZ for World Superbikes - with a Honda Dylan scoot in the back 5I wasn't participating with the scoot y'understand ) - a wee bit cramped but did the business

Dunno, but it was 24 hours to Tulsa.

We've been to Imola for WSB, Sachsenring for MotoGP and lots of others for the just for the visit. Spa, Nurburgring, Hockenheim, Lausitzring, Salzburgring, Monza (and the Ducati factory) and Brno in our Tin top.

Took the Tunnel then down to Luxembourg for the fuel and then as much of the Alps and Black forest as possible. If your heading for Italy we went through Austria for the Grossglockner pass and then on to the Stelvio pass and into the Italian lakes before heading for the circuits in Italy.

Echo what others have said...... as for crossings..... it's dependent on where you are in the UK and where your heading.... I tend to use Dover-Dunkirk for Spa and I also do for Le Mans too as it suits me.. I have done Calais route to of it has suited ( cost of crossings)....
