Post by peanutcrusher » Thu Oct 06, 2011 8:14 pm

i have climbed under the bongo and i can see nothing that seems to be loose or hanging off.
anyone got any ideas

Mine did something similar but it was the gearbox in its final death throes.

Diff?
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Loose spare wheel, exhaust, rear drop links, anti-roll bar bushes?

Crusher,

Take no notice of the vile Eat Aunt, he has temporarily given up drinking and therefore has taken leave of his senses and can become confused and delerious....he is, at the moment, an imbecile but after recovering from a recent operation (labotomy probably) he is aiming to be a complete idiot in the near future. 8)

Anyway, back to your problem, it's difficult to diagnose your problem with seeing/hearing it. I live in Southsea so if you can get it down to me we might be able to check it out together....I also have a Bongo friendly mechanic we can call on if needs be...over to you.

I'll also try and keep the Aunt in its cage.. :)

Could be a broken anti roll bar bracket, can be very hard to see the break, & they make quite a graunchy noise, usually more over bumps etc than turning though?

Could it be that the liners have come off the brake shoes?

It might be worthwhile draining the rear axle to see if there are any broken bits in the oil .(off the diff not the brake shoes) :)

Cheers..
