Hunting around the web, suggests that yes it is just put into the Oil, however when you look at the "How to use" on another Forte site, it suggest you put it in the coolant http://www.forte-nwe.com/SE/Forte+produ ... r+use.html ....... I think I'll give those instructions a pass! But yes that does look interesting it appears to get a good write up on the Volvo Owners site as well!

They do different additives for different systems .. engines / gearboxes .. auto boxes .. coolant systems ..

Although I use Flash lube UCL .. I have never been a big fan of after market Slik / STP / PTFE / Teflon etc: type of oil additives so can't say how good they work ..

It's added to the oil Geoff. Forte do a whole range of products from engine to cooling to auto boxes. I've use their products and found they worked. A Bongo which had been dormant for 3 years had a smoking problem with hardened valve stem oil seals. An oil flush, fresh oil and 2 cans of seal swell sorted it after about 50 miles.

you'll need to buy it from Motor Factors

Hi Geoff,these Forte products are excellent,always worth a go.

Is the filler that you are looking at in the pic a spark plug??

Cheers.

Nope it was this one;

But I see now as the tube only holds 125ml its quite small.

Would this treatment be worth using on a Bongo with no obvious seal problems as a precaution against developing them? My 95 V6 will be celebrating its 17th this year. Voting age next year =D> :lol: The seals cannot go for ev er but would begood to get the most out of them.

Right well none of the local motor factors had any in so a couple of tubes have been ordered from Ebay, if the first one does the job, then I'll bring the spare one along to the Bash to sell onto someone else ;-) However I may still have the seals changed depending on how much it might cost!

As you should not re-use a belt .. To change the seals should cost a similar price of a belt change plus the price of the seals ..

Right the deed is done, 125ml squirted in, the PCV checked and operates fine. Now just to give it a run and see how things change over the next month or so.

Just had the bad news from my mechanic that the oil leak I found at the weekend is likely to be the crank oil seal ( not stripped out yet so not 100%). I am not doing well working out the right parts from the diagram but could anybody just give me the part numbers for the crank and camshaft seals please ???

I am also going to change the hydraulic tensioner. I changed the belt last year and didn't both with it but since I probably now need yet another belt, I might as well. I changed the other two pulleys last year so that should be the complete set.

I have seen the hydrauliic tensioner for sale on eBay but is it available from the BF Shop ???

Thanks

Tony

The seals are available from the BF shop (under misc), the parts I had listed out are;
Crank shaft& Oil pump seal - JE1510602A 10602A SEAL,OIL http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... no=.html#4
Cam seals Left bank - JE2612601A 12601 SEAL,OIL-CAMSHAFT same as below
Cam seals Right bank - JE2612602A 10602 SEAL,OIL-CAMSHAFT http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... no=.html#5

So far the the Forte seems to have done the job, it took a week or so to have an effect, but the last couple of times it has stood out on the road we haven't so far spotted any drips [-o< we will see how it performs in the next three weeks as it will have travelled up North and been standing on the same spot overnight for a week so we should be able to tell quite accurately ...

Well still working fine as of today, no further drips at all and even the smell of hot oil seems to have been reduced where it ran down the length of the engine and dripped onto the exhaust. It hasn't done as many miles as we would have expected so far this year due too the lack of Summer, but that is about to be corrected ... to some extent, with the National Bash looming!

Thanks .. I have mentioned previously that I have never used oil additives of any description before .. but with my present 'financial retrains' I will give the 'seal seal' additive a try ..!!

Right just an update it looks like we are beginning to use / drip oil again, so its worked for abut 9 months, so whilst I'll stick another tubes worth in I must now get round to having the seals replaced I think! Its also done the mileage for the cam belt so no excuses this time !
