AFT Roof won't go up.

Hi folks.. with just a few weeks to go before my first camping jaunt of the year my AFT roof won't go up It beeps but nothing happens and I can't hear anything - i.e. no sign of the motor starting or even trying. A mate of mine (and regular contributor here @dodgey) has a had a quick look at the gubbins at the rear of the bus and can't see anything obvious. No relay's popped and controller cable is attached OK.

What I could really do with is finding someone who knows their way around the Bongo to take a look at it.. I can't afford to waste time, just need to get it fixed by someone who knows their stuff. Any recommendations in the South West area? Ideally Somerset or surrounding counties.

I would give Bell Hill a ring at Norton St. Philip near Bath. I have used bongo specialist closer to me, but Bell Hill always sort out my problems that others can't. They are not the cheapest for parts, but seem to stock everything for every type of bongo, so get the job done hassle free.
I am sure someone on here has also come across similar problem before and should be able to help diagnose first.

Yeah, tried giving it a good shove upwards from inside the bus.. no joy. Might give it another go just in case though.

Engine running.
Handbrake on (beeping with light on) which eliminates hand brake switch
Tried pushing it up with button pressed
Ran credit card round rubber seal
Checked control unit for loose wires.

Just does nothing.

Only time mine did that was when I traded it in . A bit of a shove and it worked.

go inside rear panel,drivers side (as in rear quarter) and you'll find a black box bolted with a 10mm, thats the control unit,you can apply power directly to the motors from there and will tell you if motors are duff or control unit has failed.

Hi Julian.. any idea which pins? My mate @Dodgey was going to put a meter across that cable to see if any input power was being received but couldn't easily work out the pin-outs.

The cable with the 4 wires is the one you need.The red and black wires feed the 12 volts into the control panel.The other 2 wires, green I think, carry this voltage to the motors Oneway to lift the other way to lower the roof.The relays and switches set which way round the Voltage is. There are 2 fuses used 10 and 12 I think, one is the feed for the control panel the other for the motors. If there is no sound from the motors check these fuses. Putting 12 volts across the green wires feeds the motors direct and you shoul hear them.

I've done this, make sure you're pressing the right side of the rocker switch.

Cheers - will be looking at this later today - so I understand from you that

Red/Black - controller feeds

Other two (poss green) in same cable are live/neg feed to BOTH motors? - obv. reversible.

Only other thing I've heard about is being aware if one motor goes on it's own, and consequently twisting the roof (though I thought the two motors pushed the same transmission - i.e. helping each other, rather than having a side each?)
