Dash 12v supply (cigar lighter) not working

Post by hooch » Sat Sep 22, 2012 6:56 pm

Does anyone know where the fuse for the dash 12v supply is located?

It also supplies the Radio, Mirrors and Demister.
The cigar lighters can also have a fuse mounted between the connectors on the rear of them see here http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... 95#p230795

Yup He's right!

But also check the fuse in the item you are trying to plug in.

Thanks guys.

Judging by your feedback I think that it must be the fuse on the back of the cigar lighter itself (the tyre inflator that would not run from this supply works, as do the mirrors etc).

Looks like some fettling needs to be done.

There is normally glass fuse, spring & metal nipple in the plug... Anyone of these might not be making contact.. The fins that earth the plug might not be going to ground, or the earth side of the actual lighter socket could be dirty from years of use to heat the fag lighter...? A real good juggle may spark a little life, but a good clean might make it more reliable.
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

check the fusible link on the rear of the lighter socket itself, little L shaped wire (insulated black) can often overload, simple fix is to undo the retaining nut , remove the bits 1 at a time, separate and remove the insulating washer, throw it away and reassemble, the unit is then only fused by the fuse in the fusebox.
