French Motorway breakdowns SOS

SOS Autoroutes

This is an free App for iphones or Androids, which allows to to summon the emergency services on all the French Autoroutes, following an Accident or a Breakdown. you register and they co locate you by your GPS mobile signal.

Could be handy if it works OK but I was always under the impression that you had to use the static phones on the autoroutes to get assistance. Might have changed now though.
We broke down a few years ago and tried ringing our breakdown service to be told that they can't assist while on the autoroute. We were about 100 yards from the toll so pushed the car through and then they came out.

How difficult can it be to dial a telephone number? :roll:

I think the point is that they can find out where you are, it's difficult enough in the UK to give an exact location at times let alone abroad.
That's probably why they want you to use the static phones.
