Re: Daymeet, St Annes, Lancashire, 20th May 2012
We arrived in Lytham at 11.30 am. to find that there was a once yearly triathlon taking place, and the main road on the front was closed. Waited around for 2 hours and left without seeing a single bongo, when we left the cinema car park was still closed, but most of the road was open up to point where we were meeting. Someone didn't do their homework

We were there by 1.30. The route for the triathlon wanst published anywhere
In the press, and certainly nothing about roads being closed.
I'll take the Blame for picking a random day that happened to clash with something I was only
Vaguely aware of.

Well we arrived about 12 to see the promenade closed, a quick look on the forum said it would be open at 1pm so we diverted to Fleetwood for some lunch and to collect a fridge-full of fish.
Nice to see the regulars and some newbies, get those awnings sorted for the camping season!!

Got there at 12.15. Sam said the weather felt positively tropical compared to Yorkshire Realised all the roads to the front were closed but a very helpful marshall directed us to a nearby carpark - decided NOT to park in the Mayor's spot - in case he/she arrived. Watched some of the tri-athletes compete.
We arrived at the meeting spot to find lots of Bongos, and it was lovely to meet you all. Some great tips, and more stuff to add to the Bongo shopping list
Sal, Andy, Sam n Rach

Could do, I'm pondering the Lakes this weekend as the weather looks to be agreeable, just waiting on a response from the preferred site. If they've got space I'll post it up here. By the way, we're not fair-weather campers but I'd rather it be dry than wet
Other than that, I think BH weekend is out of the question but there's plenty of free weekends in June & July. One thing to watch is that some sites don't allow caravans, some won't have tents, so it's not easy getting a site that would accept all of us.

Don't forget Allithwaite is always available and bet Jo could sort us using it for BH weekend as long as they've no village things going on on the field.
