Overnight parking/camping

Post by Obi » Thu Mar 21, 2013 10:29 pm

Hi folks,

I will be heading north from Glasgow to Clachtoll up the A9 for Easter weekend.

Won't be leaving Glasgow until 5pm so will probably be in the Inverness area circa 9pm. As I will be arriving late and leaving early I was hoping to avoid site fees.

Was wondering if anyone could recommend a spot to wild camp for the night. Not too far north or south of Inverness would be ideal.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Kev.

I'd recommend getting off the A9 just before the Cromarty bridge and heading into the Black Isle towards Cromarty on the B9163. The road kinks around Udale Bay and then there's a parking spot just before Jemimaville, overlooking the Udale Bay Nature Reserve and Cromarty Firth.

Beautiful

Just back from up Lochinver way,you should go to the pie shop there,a bit pricey but the venison and cranberry pies are to die for =P~

There is a few Forestry Commission car parks which should be okay for an overnight stop north of Inverness on the A835,some with toilets
