Re: planing journey
You could do it in a day but if you want a stop off you could try lomond wood campsite at the south end of of loch lomond . It's a decent we site in balloch. Depends on your route really , if your going up the centre of the country better to find something near Stirling maybe?
Re: planing journey
Hi We've done South coast to Skye in a day, not in the Bongo but in an old VW. It took a while but was OK as the roads become very exciting with mountains etc to look at as you get up "North".
I'd have thought Preston to Skye would be easy.
We're booked into Skye accommodation Summer Half Term 2014 and plan to do the journey in a one, maximise the time up there climbing

Im sure Bongo Fury member Croylo (the owner) would make you very welcome.....he may even share a dram with you as you have a Bongo!!.
I have stayed there a few times and its a lovely site.....if you can put up with a few midgies!!

Re: planing journey
Preston to Skye in a day. Easy peasy these days now that there is a bridge rather than a ferry. In the 80's I attempted to get to Skye from Liverpool on a Sunday to join some climbing pals. Despite doing 100mph down Glen Shiel in my Saab I missed the last ferry and had to spend the night in Kyle of Lochalsh. Bummer!
