My previous bongo was also T reg 1999 and def had a silver tent. :shock:

I had no idea the colour indicated the year of the tent.

I don't think proving it one way or the other will get me very far, but when you say 'easiest' option, I presume you mean less nearimpossibleforme option? I, of course, wouldn't know where to start but would it be a simple thing for a standard mechanic to do? Bongo specialists I would imagine would charge a fortune?

The earlier Bongos tended to be more colourful, and then they standardised them in silver (unless anyone knows otherwise). To relocate the switch further along the roof frame should not be a big job to do: drill & thread new holes (in theory). If you're stuck, you're welcome to take a trip down to Salisbury & we can sort it out. I'll take a look at mine over the weekend to check what is involved.

Thx Simon. We are actually driving to the Larmer Tree festival today and returning via Salisbury on Sunday, but either way you are only half hour from me in Andover.

Do you have a bongo garage or something?

I will keep an eye on the thread over the weekend.

No don't have a Bongo garage, although that might be an idea.... :). This weekend is probably a bit tricky, but we can probably sort out something one evening after work. Drop me a message & we'll figure out a plan.

Enjoy Larmer Tree - at least is wont be a muddy one.

Simon, did you get to take a look at the positioning of the switch ?

I think I might explore the option this weekend, if the rain holds off, or at least disable the limit switch to check how high it will go - I currently have the problem but in reverse, a replacement tall version. There seems to be about an inch of extra travel before it reaches the stops, so that might be enough to lift the AFT the extra 3", I can't believe they would have altered all the runners and other hardware in production to achieve such a small change otherwise.
