Post by The Reverend » Thu Aug 07, 2014 3:33 pm

The AFT has decided to stop working... the microswitch on the handbrakes is fine, but there is no warning beeping at all.. any ideas? Fuse perhaps? Thanks in advance!

The fuse to check is under the steering wheel, it's a 30amp fuse, 2nd row down, fourth one in.

So does the Handbrake light on the dashboard light ?
When you press the Raise button -no beeping - but is there any noise at all ?

Nope there is a signal to the ECU from the AFT which puts it into limp mode if the AFT is up, but certainly prior to 2000 there is no signal to the AFT from the gear stick at all.

If you can get to the module, offside rear pillar, would be worth checking connections and making sure there is power to the module. The other item is check the raise/lower switch and make sure that it is switching the 12 volts to the module;

Thanks for all the ideas, but if it requires electrical knowledge beyond changing a fuse, I think that I'll take it in to someone who knows what they are doing.. Now, who would that be near Harrogate?? ;)

I had a panic until I put my foot on the foot brake - auto in park-handbrake on - ignition on - foot on foot brake -- presto or press switch - aaaahhh the gentle but irritating beep beep -- still not sure I am getting it right or if there is an undetected problem! Yep its ok to laugh - is it worth learning Japanese?
