I think you've baffled the Bongo Tribe. Has anyone ever fitted wheels that big?  8)

hi mike

ive seen one other

not in person - but one that was for sale when I first started looking

that was also a v6 petrol

when I look back - it only sold for 3k

very similar to the beast above

I was too scared to take on the v6 petrol

lol - I still am a little

but it the wheels don't catch on full lock - then that's it they are fine

circumference is fine

theyre only 2'' bigger than rx8,s

tyre prices are not much different and the seller states theres plenty of tread left

so no rush - worry there

lol - I wonder if the spare is a skinny  hope not lol

Hi
Oh, most definitely the way to go...I had a company in the USA who make wire wheels to order....hell I was tempted to go for 20 inch wires...but then I looked at the fluffing roads here!
Go for it!
Cheers

Those tyres are 2.72% larger than standard, so will affect your speedo's reading. However, I have not found any tyres, of that size, that have a load rating of more than 95, whereas the Bongo requires a minimum limit of 96 on the rear wheels. Also, they would give a very hard ride :(

hi Helen

thanks for the words of encouragement

it is a beast - I think I am definitely going to view her

at least I have 7 years of bongo experience to look around etc

just the petrol bit I don't know about - but as long as it looks like new - lol - and I will try and get the dealer to major service it - and the cambelt

no reason why it should be as faithfull as all the others

I might see her in the flesh and walk away - who knows

as I like the styling etc - I am expecting the harder ride - but time will tell when I test drive etc

we will see - in time

gotta think of the 200 mile round trip 1st and time to do it

Just realised the black one in your photo is the beast in question (thought the wheels looked big) . Monster monster machine mate - I'm too square for all that but it does look impressive 8)

Check if it affects your insurance premium. Some insurers are less keen on mods than others. As mentioned, it will make your speedo under-read which technically may make the vehicle unroadworthy. Something to discuss with MOT tester who is more familiar with the rules and regulations.

hi simon

my bro in law is an mot inspector - and the beast will be going to his garage to be done

he is coming with me on Saturday to view

trust me when I state - I am very enthusiastic to get the beast - but not daft enough to jump in without doing my home work

yes - my insurance will be the 1st port of call - as its admiral - they had no problem with rx 8 alloys etc - but noted on my policy

I think admiral stand at point that they will only repair the bongo back to standard - so I am have to look else where

its all pie in the sky at the moment

maybe humble pie

Regarding making speedos under read etc due to the change in circumference :-

The standard speedo overreads by a couple of % anyway so if you get it to be more accurate this can only be a good thing.

At 60mph my speedo reads 64mph via gps.

I found 17" wheels and 55 profile put my speedo spot on. I suspect 20" wheels will cause under-read whatever profile Andy uses. Just need to be careful

Hi
Many years back, you used to be able to get a speedo checked and re-calibrated...it's worth looking into with a decent set of wheels!

with my rx8 wheel - 18'' - im sure my say nav reads a couple of mph more than the speedo

how accurate is the sat nav ?

touch wood - never been caught for speeding yet - albeit I try not too and there has been a couple of incidents with a mobile camera in a van where I thought I was going a tad over

as insurance goes for the beast - I will be contacting admiral shortly - which I think they will cut me short because of the mods

staysure was freetops only - which was the insurer for tin tops ?
