Welcome aboard, don't forget the rear heater can be bypassed or blanked off without harm.

You could do this as a temporary fix then come back to it, and don't forget the bleeding process if its a V6- this is vital.

Hi, Thanks for reply. We are aware the heater matrix can be by passed as a temporary measure. We are looking to do a permanent replacement of heater matrix. We have a 2 litre petrol bongo and its in superb condition so we are not looking for a quick fix. We have seen the heater matrix available on ebay new so purchasing the new part is no problem. We were wondering if the matrix can be removed without having to removing the whole rear heater. Thanks

This diagram may help your investigations in the absence of anybody coming up with an "I've done it" answer.

Alternatively, if you have not done so already, it may be worth doing a careful search of this forum. Search is located in the top right of the page. In the search term try something like

rear AND heater AND (remove OR removal OR replace OR replacing)

The AND's, OR's and brackets are important to get a more accurate result.

From memory (and it was a few years ago we replaced ours after a freeze and burst) you will need to take out the whole housing, which will require you to disconnect the gas line and regas the system as well. I don't think it can be done any other way, but happy to be proved wrong. Its a bit of a pest to get access so be patient. On the positive side the 2 litre is nice and simple to fill up again with coolant since it 'self bleads'. (no uppy downy hosey malarky) ;)
