Solar power

Post by crp47 » Thu Aug 11, 2016 9:33 pm

Can any Fine Bongo owner recommend a solar panel for the leisure battery. I am hoping to be able to rough camp & be independent, running the fridge etc. Cheers Clive in sunny Jersey.

The best assured quality and designed to fit a Bongo AFT is from Solar Camper Solutions http://www.solarcampersolutions.co.uk/
Roger is also on here from time to time, not the cheapest but there are good reasons if you want reliability!
See my write up here for the problems that can occur! http://igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/view ... 13#p679313

I've just done my own install of a 100w semi-flexi panel, MPPT charger and remote LCD, quite easy and very satisfying - but would have been difficult without this forum and the excellent wisdom which populates it! Roger, Geoff and others have provided lots of help with basic electrical issues regarding which I had no prior knowledge.

The panel has been throwing plenty of watts into my LB all weekend on a trip to Cornwall - cold beers for the duration :D

PM me if you want a description of my approach
