Which towbar?

Post by Yan » Sun Nov 20, 2016 8:17 pm

Hi,

I've got a 2003 bongo (new shape model SGEW) with an LPG conversion (tank where the spare wheel was) and want to put a towbar on.

I'm trying to find the right towbar on Ebay, but it's a minefield!

Here's what I'm looking at so far:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Towbar-for-Ma ... SwVFlT80I4

There is a second which looks identical, but has a different model number:

Also this one which is cheaper:

Do you think either of these will fit ok?

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for any advice!

I'd only buy the one made by. A1 towbars Of Sheffield
Buy direct from them about £170-200 if I remeber right
I had one of the other ones and it split ( loads have had probs with the other make )
Gas safe heating engineer / plumber if you need any advice just shout.

Thanks for the replies!

I think you're right, I should shell out the extra for peace of mind. The one in the Bongo shop says it's the A1 towbar Gasy mentioned and the price seems good.

Does anyone know if I will need to do any extra cutting to fit it to a facelift model or will it just fit every Bongo the same?

Cheers.

I have the Anker kit on my Aero Bongo.
Easy to fit and has the reinforcing plate on the NS.
They do state that the bumper has to be removed to fit but I found it could be fitted without removal. You will need to trim a bit out of the skirt to clear the assembly but not an issue. Also fit the hitch with the bolts facing towards you I.E. nuts on the outside if you decide on this one.

Thanks Bongolia. I've just ordered the one from the bongo shop, I presume they're all fairly similar?

I'll keep your tip about the bolts in mind when fitting if that looks like it needs to be done.

We've got 2 adults and 2 kids to fit in the Bongo so having a small trailer will be awesome for keeping our stuff out of the way.

Cheers.
