When stationary, if I apply a few revs, there seems to be a brief clatter for 1 or 2 seconds, possibly like tin plates banging together, and the same when I reduce revs. Had both seats open and it seems to becoming from the front area of the engine. I have tried to listen for it the old fashion way with a large screwdriver but have not been successful.
It doesn't seem to be apparent during normal driving.
Alternator and aircon belts are in adjustment.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Re: Another unidentified noise - my V6
Update.
Started it up today.
I think the noise originates from close to the plastic cam belt cover at front right hand side of engine - the vibrations certainly feel stronger here.
Tomorrow courtesy of the RAC it will be transported to A & S in Caerphilly to diagnose and repair. It would have gone today but apparently the recovery delays are running at around 5 hours and it wouldn't have got there until after closing time. So I have to rebook it tomorrow, Cam belt change plus the seals etc have been on the to do list so hopefully it is related to this and it will all be sorted in one go.

Re: Another unidentified noise - my V6
Just thought I would update.
So my Bongo V6 was recovered to A and S Motor Repairs in Caerphilly.
I knew it would have to sit there for a couple of weeks because of their
commitments and leave, but not a problem because of travel restrictions and lockdown.
A full cam belt kit was fitted plus the water pump, coolant replaced and everything
is now fine. I was told I was very lucky, the belt was saturated in oil, worn and could have
broken at any time.
I was very happy with the overall cost as well.
When the Bongo was collected, there were 3 other Bongos having work carried out.
They have certainly gained a good reputation for Bongo repairs in the South Wales area.

My Diesel is booked into A&S for the exact same work plus a service. I’ve heard that they are wallet busting?Eratosthenes wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2020 9:29 pm Just thought I would update.
