Exploding Fusable Link

Post by Ian » Tue Apr 04, 2023 11:49 am

This received from a member this morning. Any ideas?

Just received the fusible link to the glow plug relay on my diesel Bongo and went to turn the ignition and it melted instantly would you know why? Or is this a faulty fusible link?

Suspect he just replaced the link without clearing the original short on the glowplug busbar which is the most common problem.

Connect a small filament bulb in place of the fuse, If it lights up the bulb when you turn the ignition on there is a direct short to earth. Cant imagine there is anything wrong with the fusible link, sounds like its doing its job.
