HI Chaps,

My V6 is suffering something similar. It was running fine yesterday - but today, it won't start.

Turning over fine, just won't fire. And it's damp, really damp. A sea mist is rolling in and although it hasn't been raining, everything is wet.

And this is what happens. Fine normally, but sometimes, when it's heavy rain or damp like this, it won't start. The previous owner admitted this and has had plenty of work done to it. New leads, dist cap, etc.

Any ideas?

Neil.

Have you checked the state of the "O" ring under the distributor cap ?

Cheers - that's my lunchtime sorted now.

Just noticed your location. I hail from sunny Worthing originally, but now find myself North of the Border!

The two either side look a bit crusty too. Clean them all and see if that helps.

Distributor cap, rotor and HT lead (from coil) replaced - now all working lovely.

I sprayed the cap, leads and coil with copious amounts of water as the engine was running and it carried on fine. So I hope that's it.

Staring down from the passenger side at the exhaust, the state of the catalytic converter is appalling. I can see the ground through parts of it. Time to get it replaced...

I know it’s a while ago now but did you replace the catalytic converter and if you did was it expensive and where did you get the part?
