You should find that the Mazda 626 is also identical. That shared a chassis with the MX6 - much underrated cards in my opinion.

just done mine folks
what a difference it makes
instead of judging your speed by other cars or taking a bit off cos it`s running fast etc at lower speeds
cor blimey the speed it says is the speed ya doing sort of
and the odometer clocks up in mph easy peasy
proper top tip

hi might be a stupid question but how do you convert klms to miles? bongo is reading 115599 so what would this be in miles?

1 mile = 1.609344 kilometers
115599 km = 71829.88 m

mine now reads 104 miles yep 104
delivery mileage only

the clock in this one looks right ok the cowling is different but the clock looks right
seems like the later ones have a digital display

Hi all,
Just to confirm that the speedo out of a Mazda 626 will fit a Bongo to.
As I do I popped into the local breakers for a root around and found a Mazda 626 on a P reg, 6 screws later and the speedo was out.
So if you are on the look out for a MPH speedo with mile odometer & trip the 625 & MX6 on mid 90’s will fit.
Code on the speedo face is GA5R

Yep, My 626 was a '96 and I guess any model up to the facelift version will do.

Not wanting to spread paranoia but have you checked that the speedo is calibrated right for a Bongo? It is just possible they would have made one with the same form-factor but a different scaling on the input!

I understand your concerns about calibration but today I have taken both a KPH & MPH Speedo apart and the only difference I can see is a part number on a chip on the circuit board.
All other chips etc have the same colours and numbers on.
So I have assumed the 2 chips are for reading the signal sent from the speed sensor on the gearbox and one converts to KPH and the other to MPH.
I know the mile odometer/trip is right as I work 14 miles from home and this reads perfect.

also don`t put the complete unit on from the mx6 in
nowt works apart from the indicators for a few seconds then ends up blowing the hazard light fuse
oh what fun
well i had to know
just tried another speedo today yep spot on
you can just tell they are running right
take it easy folks

Hi,
Just wanted to say this is a great tip. Just fitted one from a 626 after checking that the code on the Speedo face is GA5R and removed my chip.
Works spot on just a bit of difficultly resetting the mileage but you just have to brave and I used a small screwdriver to turn them back.

By the way I have found a very good website for finding used parts;

Just input the vehicle details and the part you are looking for and the response is very quick.
Example, I was looking for the 626/mx6 Speedo, input my details and within 10 minutes I had 5 replies with prices inc. P & P.
There was a large range on prices so do not jump on the first reply.
Hope some of you may find this of use.
