Sounds like a clogged fuel filter to me.

Good luck

Exactly the same symptoms I got when I ran the tank too low. A top up of juice cured the problem straight away.

Does sound like fuel starvation.

It sounds like a fuel airlock/blockage or a turbo problem.

I would change the fuel filter and check for leaks and splits in the fuel system. A split can suck air in but not leak out.

A faulty turbo would also give the symptoms you are describing. Check for secure pipes and a working actuator. A tired turbo can sometimes sieze in position and then free off when it has cooled down.

Do not drive the vehicle if it happens again - you may cause further damage and the rescue service may save you the trouble of fixing it.

I've had a similar problem on my civic and it turned out to be the turbocharger. Switch off then back on again and the problem cures itself until the next time. The clever ecu restricts the revs to about 2000 - a safety mode

I had exactly the same - replaced fuel filter, cleaned gauze under fuel pump banjo.... sorted..

I agree with jimsmimm I'd have a look at the fuel filter etc.

just an idea - i had similar issue with mine and it was the diesel cold starting heater switch had been switched on ( I know most bongos don't have this)
