yes i,m a bit mystified too - do tell :)
all i can think of is plant pot cosies or spade handle covers to stop blisters. Its interesting how knitting is back though my daughter asked me to show her how to knit last week - she wanted a scarf with the "home-made" look shes 25 i never thought i,d see the day - and she,s better at it than i ever was.

Love it aimee! This lady put a load of effort into this and you can tell, well done. I recall her measuring up the b*witched bongo even to get it to scale! =D> :D

I'm so pleased that your daughter is knitting, I can't believe how many new knitters are around.

The garden started out as a community project with Bolton council and has just grown. It's not really a garden now, more of a fantasy landscape, and it's going to get bigger. We're planning a beach, a coral reef, woodland, etc. I'm even going to knit a Bongo. It's all mismatched sizes and shapes but somehow works. It certainly entertains the youngsters, as they try to spot the spiders, mushrooms, gnome, fairy and play name the vegetables.

The best thing about it is that we take it around to festivals and get free tickets and camping for our trouble. They even fed us at Larmer Tree!

It's been the most fantastic summer ever and next year we're going to try to do one every weekend and not come home for several weeks.

Who knows, it may make an appearance at a Bongo bash and you'll all be able to hear tales of extreme knitting and marvel at the knitted landscape.

Blimey Karl, that take me back some years. I remember him when he did the Blue Peter garden and Gardeners World - I must say that I preferred Geoff Hamilton.

Hi Jo, I usually have some crocheting about my person, so I can easily get you started again. Nothing wrong with knitting scarves, lovely to keep you warm when you're camping in the cold. :D

cant crochet either - mind you i think it can go a bit too far - just seen a photo of Keith on a day out in Blackpool as a kid with three generations of his familly in identical jumpers knitted by grandma - nothing as mundane as an arran but bright coloured with a jester type collar and pom poms. Must have taken so much effort for her but they do look a right set of ninnys.

yep when my eldest two were younger(about two and three)they had every jumper that my mum had knitted the same so they looked like twins, poor kids, emma came along and she did have taste, every time i put on one of grandmas knitted jumper, whether it be pink white blue yellow, spotted striped she would scream the place down, and she was only 1year old so i think my mum got the message very quickly.
wigan pixie would love you to show me how to start off crochering(spelt wrong again i know)again, when we finally meet sometime, somewhere then i can show emma how to,she can knit so its time to show her crochering
