I've had a good nose around on there already and all the schematics face forward - there's no rear elevation of the back of the block but I'll keep on looking
Very worried now

That's really nice of you and much appreciated, I'm with greenflag and they'll take it to either the nearest garage or 10 miles if it's a home recovery. For the mileage after that I pay the garage that transports it (£1-£1.50 per mile etc) so it shouldn't be a fortune to get it to Market Drayton. I won't be risking driving it.
I rang Ian's number this morning but I think he was closed and having a normal weekend. I'll ring him monday and see if I can book it in etc. The diagram on Lushproject shows a few core plugs in the back of the lump, bet one of them has rusted through.
Thanks again

Bongo disaster clashed with a crazy time at work and the snow.........
I spoke to Ian and he's happy to take it, just need to organise green flag side of it (seemed a bit daft to get it transported in the bad weather) hopefully get it shifted early next week.

Update
Spoke to Ian, a core plug behind the engine inside gearbox bell housing had pinholed with rust, new ones are being fitted and system being tested and then see what else is leaking

Not for Ford/Mazda dealers - think how much they can charge for, what is normally, a very simple job

Cheers Carl, hopefully should be OK - I'm not rushing Ian as I've got the wife's car and it does 50 to the gallon....Hopefully it will be a weekend pick up etc so I shuld be ok for a lift.

Jeebus - sounds like it's been running without antifreeze/corrosion inhibitor at some time

Not under my ownership. Flushed and refilled in 2007 (Bleed pipe leaked) and had antifreeze when bought from AVA following import in 2005 (I hope). All other core plugs that were readily visible bore no signs of corrosion. But summat must have happened in past as the thing rusted!

I think only one of them pinholed
