Anyways Thunderbird 3 came to the rescue and off to the doctor Gerry at discount trucks she's trundled
I thought it was Thunderbird 2 that carried all the extra gizmos and vehicles in a pod in its belly?

Yeah Kirsty, funny how as I get older I forget important things like 'did I lock the door on the way out' and work stuff from only a couple of weeks ago yet I can remember drivel from kids programmes from over 40 years ago.
Now where did I put my anorak?

Oooh, you were lucky to have a telly in those days
Sorry - I cheated - I googled Mick and Montmorency and immediately thought of my Mum with her comments that NO-ONE she knew had a television in that decade (I will spare your blushes). They bought theirs in 1969 so that I could watch the moon landing apparently. Do you know what, I really can't remember it although I can remember cramming into a neighbour's living room with half the street three years later so we could watch Princess Anne's wedding in colour!

Now it's a bit like this, I rang around several auto gearbox specialists and the going rate seemed to be about £600 for dropping the gearbox out renewing the reverse clutch pack and then refitting, but as I was due a service it was booked in with Gerry the following week anyway, so I looked around for a replacement box £160 got it dropped to Gerry he did the full service including rear brake pads which it required, fit the replacement box and charged me £350 total. Personally I was very happy with that and still have my old box which I can get reconditioned at my leisure
Having said all that, I have, since buying my Bongo from Gerry over 4 years ago,
used him for all my servicing MOT's so perhaps he looks after me reasonably well bless him

Thanks Crazy. Will let you know how I get on.

Crazy,
I am half way through my bottle of JD. My mechanic says it looks like I need a new gearbox. Is there any chance you could give me Gerry's details to see if he can help me source a gearbox for a 1995 2.5TD Ford Freda 2WD.
Many thanks in anticipation
