The reason we don't ask for forum names at the time of booking is
a) what's the forum?; and
b) that's an unusual name. would you mind spelling that for me?
I'd estimate that 75% of attenders at the Bash don't use the forum.

Let me know if you find one, I must be in serious need
Sounds like your mission at the bash is to convert as many non forum types as possible Dizzy

Get in there early though as most of them batten down the hatches early

most of the party animals will be forum users if last year's anything to go by

Ah - at least that will make it easier for me to find you all!
May even have a game of spot-the-forum-member...

could win a special prize* if I find you all!

We all have a list of names and reg numbers, but I don't know real names - only forum names
Hmmm. We haven't recieved a Bongo bash pack so don't have the list you mentioned. We hope some people we know turn up as we really are a shy couple... Seriously though. Has everyone else got their's and if so could someone quickly email us a copy today?

You should have received this by now. I need to cross reference it; what's your membership number? Better still, ring me on mobile 07932-844321.

I appreciate that you guys are very busy running the business, but this is a fairly oldtoshlike way to view it and it'd be worth you addressing it I think. Because:
1) If 75% of our members are not using the forum then they must be becoming one of the few sectors of the UK population not to be converting to shopping and communicating on t'internet. The danger is that they will discover it at some point (like everyone else is doing) but it may be through the encouragement of some other business / club that wants to enlist their loyalty. Are they aware of the huge benefit that the forum offers to any member? Is it being sold to them? If not then why not?
2) When I phoned to book, it was obvious I had to be looked up on a database or list that you keep there. You certainly would do well to have a members database (or more accurately a 'customer relation' database where you can log what people are doing with the club) at the heart of the busines if you don't already. That means you would only have to put a forum name against a members details once and it would be available for inclusion in any printed document such as an attendance list. Half of me hates anything that replaces a genuine personal touch and character in a business with the science of 'customer relationship management' (yuk) but the other half accepts its a necessary evil when you have to process a lot of stuff effectively, with few pairs of hands and in a way that makes the job as easy as possible. You can actually return to the personal touch with the reduction in clerical grind that a good system produces. For that reason I built just such a system for my little business as far back as the late 1980s, and it was massively effective.
3) The 25% on the field would like very much to know which of their forum chums is going to be there in advance of attending so that they can try and look them up. The other 75% may then stare in wonder at this circle within a circle that seems to have something special going on.
These aren't meant as negative criticisms - this is a great club and I know you guys have a lot on. But a little investment, a stitch in time etc......

I can,

but not in as many words, and the words i use probably shouldn't be printed

, and not as polite

and eloquent as Mike's .
