Bongo Fury

I've gone for LCD meters as they drawer a bit less power, so its not really an issue if they are left powered on for long periods of time. I did have to mod them slightly so I could switch the backlight off as that will use more power than the actual meter.

My voltmeter arrived today, and I made a frame out of a black DVD case and some bass wood. Fits perfectly in the little cubby next to my BMW clock. Wired to a rocker switch on the dash so I can turn it on and off...

Very neat installation . They're great value meters, even with the cost of shipping. Did you go for the self-powered (2 wire) version? That means you can easily switch it from the main to leisure battery.

Yes, its the self powered version, and cost less than 7 quid including shipping When I find a 3 way rocker switch I'll probably connect it up to the starter battery as well as the leisure battery.

That is what I thought but I can't find any blown fuses, might have missed one though. But as I said my bongo has not been driven for six weeks, could the radio and the clock have emptied the Leisure Battery.

It turned out that it was my Waeco fridge that was the problem, it had been left on high. Puzzling since the power was supposed to be off at the power management unit. Now I always make sure that the power dial inside the fridge it turned down to zero. I have also fitted an isolator key to my leisure battery as a precaution until I get to the bottom of the problem.

Glad you got to the bottom of the problem Tony. It's usually either not enough juice going into the battery, or something draining it out again
