Might be worth contacting Justkampers to see if their interest might be aroused sufficiently to offer a kit for the Bongo seeing as there are so many in UK and many may need seals in the years aheadrev pete wrote:A Brilliant site for lots of stuff I will check my roof and get a new seal for it. Re: Bongo Free Top weather seal.
I reckon the profile on the top right seals here are more like it - http://www.justkampers.com/shop/type_2_ ... roof-seals - @ 8.5m (I didn't go out in the middle of the night with a tape measure
) for @£30 should do it IMO, but I'd measure carefully & order a bit bigger just in case, keep us posted if you go for it, piccies'd be good.
Edit - Just checked the "kits" & the Dormobile roof seal kit http://www.justkampers.com/shop/type_2_ ... 12507.html looks like it's only £25.50, the right length (check & measure 3 times to make sure
) & profile, tempted myself as mine's looking a bit sorry, have to have a check in day light.

You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

If this does fit, that's a good find.Edit - Just checked the "kits" & the Dormobile roof seal kit http://www.justkampers.com/shop/type_2_ ... 12507.html looks like it's only £25.50, the right length (check & measure 3 times to make sure ) & profile, tempted myself as mine's looking a bit sorry, have to have a check in day light.

That may indeed be an excellent find. Well done KirstyDoone wrote:I didn't go out in the middle of the night with a tape measureJust once or twice.

This is the bongo seal, not the best piccy, but it's sort of between two of the Justkampers ones, doesn't quite go out sideways but it's not quite central either

How wide is the "U" on the Bongo seal Kirsty? JK reckon the Vee Dub seal won't take much more than 4mm wide - the Vee Dub is a flimsy lid.
I'm goning to change mine - it's shrunk a bit and there's a gap at the join - I've also got the "tide mark" above the seal on mine

Re: Bongo Free Top weather seal.
Difficult to tell, just had a quick look (was doing 3 other jobs at the same time
) & the seal itself bent a bit as I was manoevering it, I'd have to measure properly & possibly have a look at some samples to say.

Re: Bongo Free Top weather seal.
Did you happen to notice how the Bongo seal stays in place Kirsty? Does it achieve it without adhesive?
I wonder if it might still be worth asking JustKampers for a view in case they have a connection to manufacturers who make this kind of stuff

Seems to be a similar kind of grip as the JK ones, may try & ask for a sample piece when I get around tuit.mikeonb4c wrote:Did you happen to notice how the Bongo seal stays in place Kirsty? Does it achieve it without adhesive?

Re: Bongo Free Top weather seal.
Got a better pic today

it's about 30mm high & 12 mm wide externally & about 4mm wide, maybe just over, on the aft edge.

Re: Bongo Free Top weather seal.
I had a look through the downloadable wall chart of rubber trim profiles of the company Helen linked to, one or two look close, I've sent them an email with a pic of the profile with sizes & a request for samples of anything they have that would do the job.

All I can do is say thankyou again and await your result. I won't contact them myself in case it causes confusion.

Re: Bongo Free Top weather seal.
Hi
That's what I've always done with that company...pick something off their chart. Last time I went I seem to remember that they had a load of books of trim. They won't have something "Bongo Specific", so it's just going to look...or post a 1/2 inch piece...cover the gap with greenhouse tape...and, as I say...order a fair bit more than you think, and a rubber tube to slip in the hollow "squashed" section...your old one may not have had a joiner, but your new one will need it....I've done this job a few times. The new rubber may be stiffer than you imagine, so do the job on a hot day, leaving the rubber in the sun for a while, and fit and re-fit (shuffle) the rubber....it's easy to fit, cut , and find you've cut it short....
Cheers
Helen

In the beginning there was nothing , then God said "Let there be Light".....There was still nothing , but ,by crikey, you could see it better.
