I want something we can use as our only motor...I want it to be a bongo with loads of seats....5 grand kids.....So I reckon a nice tintop with a LPG "jobby" might just fit the requirements.......If I can get about 35/40 miles per £5 that would do.

How does it work...do you have a manual switchover ??? can you start on lpg ??
third time lucky, for some reason my last two post didnt appear. :-k :-k

price 55.9p in Blackpool.
Switch over is manual or automatic . However if you start in gas position it still starts on petrol but switched over if and when you rev the engine slightly. If its winter and this happens to soon it stalls. Summer its fine. If you run out of petrol it wont start. when it runs out of gas you know because you start to loose power about a minute or two before.

Hope this helps

haydn callow wrote:Does all that mean that when you drive your V6 on LPG you get 21MPG and a gallon costs about 60% of what a gallon of petrol costs ??
Which would equate to about 37 MPG by cost ???
If you see what I mean (not sure I know what I mean)

yes
But you have to factor in the almost £2000 installation cost so these savings dont really kick in for a few years.
BUT it is a great feeling when you fill up from empty and it only costs £35 (....that total will depend on what size of LPG tank you have,of course)

Hi Haydn I have a 2.5 litre V6 with lpG conversion. Bought it off Tim in Glasgow. Seems to do at least equivalent of 40mpg (probably more) when running on lpg (if you equate cheaper cost of lpg with petrol). as previous posts say needs to start on petrol but once warmed up automatically transfers over to lpg (about 1 miles worth of driving or leave warming up on drive for 5 minutes) . i would definitely recommend, very smooth and quiet compared with a diesel!!

Hi
Probably not worth the petrol cost, Haydn, but if you're coming to Bulgaria next year, there's an official gas convertor who can supply and fit for £200.00 - £300.00 inclusive...They are doing it all the time..the parts aren't dear, and labour is cheap..Lots of English run LPG cars here...if mine were petrol, I'd have no hesitation getting the locals to do it. There are loads of "gas " stations in Europe....but I reckon dear old Alastair Sweetie...(sorry, Darling), will slap a special tax on it ASAP, and the rest of Europe will follow suit....after all Government has to keep the proletariat soaked in tax
Cheers
Helen
