Advice on electrics for a novice

Winter pack loom, of course! I thought it may have been for a parking pole..?

I kept pushing the damn thing out the way during some of my various wiring jobs.. Then while i was looking for somewhere to wire an led into the key recess of the steering cowl to A; light up my ignition so i can see where to put the key in the dark. & B; acts as a handy left lights on when the doors open now my beeper has been deactivated!
It dawned on me that it should still be active on the back-light circuit!

I got a double cig socket spur behind the panel below the steering wheel & run the sat nav power under the dash to the side of the A pillar.. I don't like trailing wires & it keeps the original lighter socket free!

Thanks for the advice guys, I like the idea of tapping off the spare block. I will look in to that over the course of the week and see what I come up with.

I wasn't sure about the spots, thought it might be a bit weak. I might look at running a separate switch into one of the blanks like I did with the fog.

I went down the route of wiring a new socket direct to my leisure battery via an inline fuse holder (from maplin). The reason I did this was that I could use much thicker wire and extend this to any further 12v sockets or accessories. The sockets were bought from Rainbow.



The route I took for the cable was through a grommet in the bulk head - under the dash to the center - under the removable console - across the back ofthe engine bay (under the seat by the hinges) - and down behind the panel with the the rear heater controls.



The 12v one is under the pull down cover (top left)



Oh yeah before anyone says I know that the bottom left 240v is pointing the wrong way - just makes it neater to have the fan heater cable going across not down!
